O Munirka | 2 NE girls raped in Munirka

Munirka is making the news again. Welcome to the city that never sleeps, The Last Vegas.

Two Northeast girls were raped in the dark alleys of Munirka, South Delhi at around 1.30 a.m. on August 12 by seven unidentified males. The two girls were returning home from work when they were attacked and pushed to the ground. The unidentified persons then took turns to rape them. Nobody responded to the girls’ scream. Nobody came to their help.

Sadly, the identifications of the victims as well as the rapists are not known. No police incident report has been made, no FIR has been filed.

The incident is first reported by ZogamThuthang, a microblogging Zomi news service.

Muan, a student residing in Munirka, saw two tattered pairs of women’s bra and underwear by the roadside in the early hours of Tuesday at around 6:00 a.m. By that time rain had already soaked the entire place.

On Friday evening, Ms. X, a friend told Muan that one of her managers witnessed a rape incident in Munirka the past Tuesday at around 1.30 a.m. She is working at a showroom in Priya, Vasant Vihar. This happened to be exactly the same place where Muan had seen the pairs of underwear on Tuesday morning.

The manager said to her, “We heard someone screaming, went to the top of the building and saw two girls being dragged and raped in turn by around seven unidentified persons.” He added, “We couldn’t go down to help since the gate had already been locked.”

They then seemed to have enjoyed the whole episode from the comforts of the top of their building. This, is absolutely shocking. People who witnessed the rape of two helpless NE girls without even trying to try to help them are far guiltier than the rapists themselves. Gates may have been locked, but neither lips nor phones can’t be locked.

Is this really true? Just surprised a bit because I haven't heard anything like this so far... and trust me, this type of news is BIG news. Any link?

It is difficult to comprehend how such incidents go unreported, assuming the incident took place. Guess there is a big NE community in Delhi and a few NE Help groups including a specialised NE Legal Cell.
Yes, any link?? We' ll fight.

i've already lost hope. btw, thanks for commenting, guys. Yes, the incident did take place. Muan is my friend, he's the one who found the underwears. i've e-mailed some media orgs like MetroNow, TOI, The Telegraph and even called up NE Support Group. but nothing could be done since the victims didn't come out. we just don't know who they are...

This is extremely sad... if this is true.. but question remains that even if media reports the incident..are the culprits be ever punished? There are lot of arguments against freedom and all... but it is better to be safe than sorry... so all girls have to be a bit on the paranoid side to make sure such incidents dont happen with them...
