I’ve written a song, a rap song, named “Tunnu Zolei” (Mother Zoland). It was performed by my cool dude, Mamuan Khuptong and Chingmuankim Shoute (Angel Tongsuah Kilawm) at the November 8 Siamsin Conference-cum-DIAFEST 2007 at Airforce Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi. Music was done by Sonmuan Valte (stevekid) and the tune was composed by Lun Thawmte. The performance was exceptionally outstanding, everybody said. And I agreed!
Here goes the lyrics… Sing along when the Conference VDO’s out!
Tuunnu Zolei
Mamuan Khuptong feat. Chingmuankim Shoute
Tuunnu Zolei, na suuni hongtaang saknawn in
Na laukha’n hambang honghuai in
Na von te’n manthatna liimguam zuan ung e
Tuunnu Zolei
Yo, seems like old dreams startin to fade
Lookin at the sprawling Delhi City
Sweet reminiscences begin to flow
My thought drift back to good old times
Times when everything seemed so cool and calm
Times when everything seemed so bright and shin
Back then we were in our early teens livin the lives of thugs
Bunked class, ran outta skul
Hung out till late at night along the Tedim Road
Playin guitar under the moonlite
to the tunes of Lengtong Pauno, V Siampu, Thangboi Mangte, S Chingnu, Lianlunching
Yeah we were the champs in the streets of beautiful Lamka,
Where different ethnic pips lived
Time stood still and the world swirled on an axis of peace
Love and harmony rang through the serene hills of Zodawn
Tuunnu Zolei na tongdam in hongphawng halh in
Na luankhi’n hongtuum siang in
Kou te’ di’n na meelvaak honglang saknawn in
Tuunnu Zolei
Reminiscin the glories of Zoland
I shudder at the way things have become
My land has fallen into ruins
My people have so long been neglected
My people have so long been rejected
Poor Zodawnians live as an outcast
Withdrawn from all civilization, subjected to subjugation
By the f***ed up Manipur’s government
Reigning like evil mom
With a policy to divide, tryna destroy the Z’s kills the Z’s, f*** the Z’s
Tearin every little piece of shit apart
Swayin corrupt Z’s politicians to their tunes
Raping my precious land of all the riches God had given
We ain’t got no place to call home, got no place where we belong
Ain’t got no place to rest our head
Tuunnu Zolei
Love you, Zogam!
